The Buyer/Planner is responsible for the creation and oversight of master production schedules for the Danner Portland-based factory and the replenishment of sourced finished goods. This role will utilize MRP tools, analyze planned orders to execute timely production of finished goods and develop and inventory plan based on corporate goals and strategies.



  • Manages all aspects of finished goods purchasing for assigned factory and/or category at the SKU level.
  • Execute all activity relevant to factory production orders, including but not limited to: firming, issuing, revising, expediting, tracking and canceling.
  • Responsible to hand over a feasible short-term Master Schedule to the Factory Planner for execution
  • Partner with Factory Planner to manage changes and issues within the time fence and provide alternatives and trade-offs, as well as, seek executive approval
  • Ensures that the master schedule can be used for detailed material purchasing and capacity planning as well as financial planning
  • Develop and maintain ad-hoc and recurring reports (Key Performance Indicators) for Operations decision support
  • Review MRP planned orders in accordance with factory capacity and constraints.
  • Plan and communicate Factory Load Forecast to suppliers each month.
  • Negotiate with suppliers and recommend action for shipment delays according to the corporate Late Ship Policy; including cost sharing of expediting to meet customer demand, with consideration of margins needed to meet operating profit goals.
  • Create Shipment #'s and coordinate invoice payment with the Finance department.
  • Work cross functionally to ensure a high level of communication between Demand and Supply and other internal departments (i.e. Manufacturing, Sales, Product Development, Commercialization, Customer Service, Finance, Customs and Distribution).



  • Provide backup support for other Buyer/Planners and Master Planner as needed
  • Perform other duties as assigned by Director.



  • Must be dependable and team oriented
  • Must be willing to conduct oneself in accordance with the Company's Cove Values
  • 2-5 years' experience in supply chain management, Demand/Inventory planning, or Master Production Scheduling.
  • Bachelor's degree or relevant experience
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to make recommendations supported by data and information
  • Strong communication skills (interpersonal, relationship-building, presentation) including writing clear and concise business communication plus the ability to speak to groups of varying sizes and levels within the company
  • Previous experience in Footwear/Apparel planning preferred.
  • Previous work with other cultures in a business setting, and awareness of and sensitivity to cultural differences.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and meet multiple deadlines
  • Attention to detail a must.
  • Knowledge and working experience using ERP, MRP and other planning systems. Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite with a strong emphasis in Microsoft Excel and exposure to database applications (e.g. Power Pivot/BI)



 Position reports directly to the Inventory Planning Manager and has dotted-line reporting to the Director of Demand & Supply.
